Before the Earth Shook: the Ancient City of Hippos-Sussita Emerges

What happened on January 18th in the year 749CE? The ancient Greek city of Hippos-Sussita was destroyed by a violent earthquake after almost 1,000 years of vibrant civilization. The Hecht Museum at the University Of Haifa will be holding an opening for the new exhibition "Before the Earth Shook" on Hippos-Sussita (established by the Seleucids in 200 BC on the east shore of the Sea of Galilee) on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 16:00. The Department of Archaeology at the University of Haifa was a partner in the extensive excavations of Hippos-Sussita. The finds should be fascinating!
